HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0734ORDINANCE N0. 734 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LYNWOOD CITY CODE AND ADOPTING THE 1961 EDITION OF THE UArIFORM BUILDING CQDE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD; Section l. Section 8,1 of the Lynwood City Cod.e is amended to read as follows: "Section 8,1. Uniform Building Code -- Ad.opted; where filed; appeal. "(a) For the purpose of prescribing regulations to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance o£ all buildings and structures within the city and certain equipment specifically regulated herein, there is hereby adopted by the city council o£ the city that certain code known as the Uniform Building Code recommended by the Pacific Coast Building Officialsx Conference, being particularly the~1961 Edition, except section 204 of the Code. Not less than three copies of the Code have been and now are filed in the office of the clerk of the city, and the same, with the exception of section 204 thereof, is hereby adopted and. incorporated. as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this section shall take effect, the provisions of the Uniform Building Code shall be controlling within the city, ~~(b) Appeal. Within 30 days after the chief building inspector shall reject an application for a building permit or other- wise make a ruling adverse to the applicant or permittee, the appli- cant or permittee may file a written appeal with the city clerk stating in detail the reasons why the permit should be granted or the ruling should not be reversed or modified, notwithstanding the chief building inspector to the contrary. ~~(~) Hearing on appeal. Within 24 hours of the receipt -1- of the written appeal, provided for by subparagraph (b) of this section, the city clerk will advise the chief building inspector of the appeal and within the same per3od will fix the date and time for the hearing oft;the appeal by the city council and notify the appli- cant or permittee by registered or certified mail and the chief building inspector in writing, which date must not be more than 30 days from the d.ate the appeal is filed with the city clerk," Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general cir- culation printed and circulated in the City of Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council o£ said city held on the lst day of _ May , 1962, and finally adopted and ordered. published at a regular meeting of said council held on the 6th day of June , 1962, by the following vote: Ayes; Councilmen Duncan Finch Ham McMillan , Rowe.
