AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13.1 OF THE LYNWOOD
CITY CODE AND ADOPTING THE 196o EDITION OF THE
FIRE PREVENTION CODE RECOMMENDED BY THE NATIONAL
BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS, AND AMENDING SECTIONS
13.2, 13.9, 13.11, 13.12 ~iND REPEALING SECTION
13.6 OF SAID CODE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD:
Section l. Section 13.1 of the Lynwood Ci~~ Code is
amended to read as follows:
"Section 13.1. Fire Prevention Cod.e -- Adopted; where
filed.
"There is hereby adopted by the city council for the pur-
pose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to
life and property from fire or explosion, that certain code known
as the Fire Prevention Code, 196o Edition and. 196D Amendments,
recommended by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, except such
portions as are hereina£ter deleted, mod3fied or amended by the
following section, of which Code not less than three copies have been
and now are filed 3n the office of the clerk of the city and the same
are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length
herein, and from the date on which this section shall take effect,
the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the
city."
Section ~. 13.2 of the Lynwood City Code is amended to
read as £ollows:
"Section 13.2. Same -- Amendments and changes.
"The Fire Prevention Code, adopted by section 13.2, shall
be amended and changed in the following respects:
~~Section 28.1, subparagraphs a, b and c, o£ Article 28, and
sections 13.1, 13.2 a,b and c, section 13.3, section 13.4, section
13.5 and section 13.6 of Article 13 are deleted,"

Section 3. Section 13.6 of the Lynwood City Code is
hereby repealed.
Section 4. Section 13,11 of the Lynwood City Cod.e is
amended. to read as follows:
"Section 13.11. Flammable liquids--Establishment of limits
where storage in outsids aboveground tanks prohibited,
"The limits referred to in section 16,21 of the Fire
Prevention Cod.e, in which storage of flammable liquids in outside
aboveground tanks is prohibited, are hereby established as follows:
"No flammable liquids shall be stored anywhere within the
city limits excepting in Zone M-2 as d.efined by the zoning ordinance."
Section 5, Section 13.12 of the Lynwood City Code is
amended to read as £ollows:
"Section 13.12. Same--Establishment of limits where
location of bulk plants prohibited,
"The limits referred to in section 16.51 of the Fire Pre-
vention Code, in which new bulk plants for flammable liquids are
prohibited, are hereby established as follows:
"No such bulk plants for flammable liquids shall be located
anywhere within the city limits excepting in Zone M-2 as defined by
the zoning ordinance of the city,"
Section 6. Section 13.13 of the Lynwood City Cod.e is
amended to read as follows:
"Section 13.13. Establishment of limits where bulk storage
of liquefied petroleum gases restricted,
"The limits referred. to in section 21.6 of the Fire Pre-
vention Code, in which bulk storage of liquefied petroleum gas is
restricted, are hereby established as follows:
"No sueh liquefied petroleum gas shall be stored anywhere
within the city limits excepting in Zone M-2 as defined by the zoning
ordinance of the city,"
Section 7. Section 13.9 0£ the Lynwood City Code is amended
to read as £ollows•

"Section 13,9. Appeals to city council.
°Whenever the chief of the fire d.epartment shall disapprove
an application or refuse to grant a license or permit applied for as
provided for in the Fire Prevention Code, or make a ruling adverse to
the applicant, licensee or permittee, the applicant, licensee or per-
mittee may file a written appeal with the city clerk stating in detail
the reasons why the license or permit should be granted, or the ruling
should be reversed or modified, notwithstanding the aetion of the
chief of the fire department to the cont~ary. Within 24 hours of the
receipt of the written appeal provid.ed for by this section, the city
clerk will advise the chief of the fire department of the appeal and
within the same period will fix a date and time for the hearing of
the appeal by the city council and notify the applicant, licensee or
permittee by registered or certified mail and the chief of the fire
department in writing, which date must not be more than 30 days from
the date the appeal is filed with the city clerk."
Section 8. The City Clerk is hereby ordered. and directed.
to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to
be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general cir-
culation printed and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
