A quorum was present. The Cemetery Resources Board met on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Jefferson Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City, Missouri. Approval of the Minutes: A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the February 21, 2019 meeting by Nancy Thompson, Rebecca Gordon seconded. Minutes were approved. Old Business: Cemetery Preservation Workshop - Nancy Thompson reported the Cemetery Restoration Workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. So far, twenty people have registered for the workshop. There is maximum attendance capacity of twenty-five people. An email was sent out by Certified Local Government Coordinator, Kelsey Matson, encouraging participation in the event. Cemetery Veteran Gravestones - Capitol Monuments Inc. will be installing the veteran gravestones very soon in Old City Cemetery. The Cemetery Resources Board discussed funding for the project. There was discussion between members about the status of the Lincoln University Foundation and their ability to help with donations for this project. David Grellner mentioned that funds from the Woodland Trust Fund could be utilized to pay the remaining balance of the project at this time. 2 Gone but Not Forgotten Memorial - Tim Theroff mentioned that he had talked with Bill Dallmeyer who does the inscribing on the stone. He is willing to do the work this summer. He may utilize East McCarty Street to get closer to the monument to make it easier to complete the work. David Grellner stated that this project will be set up when other projects are completed. Tablet Gravestones - The tablet gravestone project has been completed. New Business: Flags for Veterans - The American Heritage Girls will be installing flags at Longview Cemetery for Memorial Day. There is interest from the group to install flags at Woodland Cemetery and Old City Cemetery. Nancy Thompson stated there is a need for purchasing additional flags. David Grellner stated the City of Jefferson could help with the purchase of flags. Storm Damage Tree in Woodland Cemetery - David Grellner mentioned a storm damage tree is leaning over the fence in Woodland Cemetery. A contract has been completed for the tree to be removed. Other Topics and Issues: Nancy Thompson is inquiring about a brass plaque for former Governor Marmaduke who is buried in Woodland Cemetery. Mark Schreiber mentioned a program in public history that may be added to the curriculum at Lincoln University. He requested the Cemetery Resources Board create a letter of support for the program. The next Cemetery Resources Board meeting was set for Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Jefferson Conference Room at City Hall.
