HomeMy Public PortalAbout2019-05-06 pre-meeting1 COUNCIL “PRE-MEETING” WORK SESSION, MAY 6, 2019 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Carrie Tergin called the May 6, 2019 City Council “Pre-Meeting” to order at 5:45 P.M. to review the agenda. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Fitzwater, Graham, Hensley, Hussey, Kemna, Mihalevich, Schreiber, and Wiseman Absent: Prather and Ward A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS In Councilwoman Ward’s absence, Councilman Mihalevich will lead the prayer. Mayor Tergin, Councilmembers, and Staff will be wearing purple boutonnieres in memory of Margaret Romph, who passed away earlier this morning. Miscellaneous Agenda Items - Mayor Tergin will introduce CASA representatives Jayne Dunkmann, Kelly Dillon, Lisa Bax, and Olive the therapy dog. - Councilman Kemna will provide details regarding the Springfield Cardinals Cole County Day at the Ballpark. Hal Dulle will be at the May 20th City Council meeting to announce the event as well. - Mayor Tergin and Councilman Kemna will provide details on the Mayor’s Cup Golf Club Tournament. Public Hearings - Mark Mehmert, Director of Transit, will present bill 2019-001. Appointments - Mayor Tergin will request a motion to approve the City Council liaison appointments. Presentations from Staff, Consultants & Invited Guests - Representatives from Phillips 66 will present an update on the pipeline project taking place in around the City. 2 COUNCIL “PRE-MEETING” WORK SESSION, MAY 6, 2019 Announcements - Sonny Sanders, Director of Planning and Protective Services will have Heritage Month and historic preservation announcements. - Mayor Tergin will introduce Amy Rogers to announce a JC Parks summer camp offered this year to kids in the community. - Councilmen Graham and Mihalevich will announce the patriotic round-a-bout updates and opportunities for citizens to donate to the project. - Councilman Kemna to announce the Community Park groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, May 7th at 4:00 P.M. Bills Introduced - Councilmembers had no questions at this time. Bills Pending - Fire Chief Matt Schofield will present bill 2019-002. Representatives from the local fire union will be available for questions. - Matt Morasch, Director of Public Works will present bill 2019-003. - Mr. Sanders will present bills 2019-004 and 2019-005. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:56 P.M.
