AUTHORIZING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR
LEGAL SERVICES WITH JAMES F. CLARKIN, Ill, ESQ.
WHEREAS, their exists a need for specialized legal services in connection with
any potential discharge of ground water into the Borough of Carteret's sanitary
sewer system by the UNOCAL Corporation; and
WHEREAS, James F. Clarkin, III, Esq., possesses the requisite experience and
expertise to provide said legal services; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has certified that funds are available for
said purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. James F. Clarkin, III, Esq. Is hereby retained as Special Counsel in the
above referenced matter at an hourly rate of $125.00 per hour not to
exceed an initial maximum cost of $5,000.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this award is made as a professional
services contract pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A: 11-5(la).
Adopted this 7th day of June, 2001
and certified as a true copy of the
original on June 8, 2001.
