McCarty Street Commission Members Present Attendance Record Mary Schantz 5 of 6 Doug Record 6 of 6 Gail Jones 6 of 6 Donna Deetz 6 of 6 Steven Hoffman 6 of 6 Nathan Percy 4 of 6 Angela Lucero 3 of 6 Gregory Bemboom 5 of 6 Commission Members Absent Alan Wheat 5 of 6 Council Liaison Present Laura Ward Staff Present Jayme Abbott, Neighborhood Services Manager Anne Stratman, Neighborhood Services Specialist Call to Order Mary Schantz called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Adoption of Agenda Mr. Hoffman moved and Ms. Deetz seconded to adopt the agenda as printed. The motion passed unanimously. Approval of Minutes Mr. Record moved and Mr. Hoffman seconded to approve the minutes from the April 9, 2019 regular meeting as printed. The motion passed unanimously. Communication Received Ms. Abbott stated no communications have been received. New Business A. Design Criteria Review with presentation of sample material for 407 Lafayette Street. This matter was tabled at the March 12, 2019 Historic Preservation Commission meeting in order to gather additional information. Ms. Abbott provided a staff report which included a synopsis of the property, School Street design guidelines, and improvements the property owner would like to make to the property. Mr. George, property owner, 5716 Henwick Lane, spoke regarding this request. He supplied sample materials for doors and windows, soffit, fascia, and a mockup of the gutter system and Doric column. Mr. George explained that the columns on the front porch will consist of fiberglass that is circular with a square base. He is proposing to replace the lower front window with wood clad and the two dormer windows with vinyl. The front door will consist of a thermal type door and the existing transom will be incorporated into the front door. 2 Minutes/Historic Preservation Commission Page 2 May 14, 2019 Ms. Abbott gave the staff recommendation and it stated that the scope of work appears to meet the School Street Local Historic district adopted design guidelines. Mr. Record moved and Ms. Deetz seconded to approve staff recommendations with the exception of the lower front window being wood clad. The motion passed unanimously. Dates to Remember A.
