Leesburg, VA (February 12, 2021) – Current National Weather Service forecasts indicate a mix of wintry weather, included freezing rain, sleet, and possible ice, will begin in Leesburg at approximately 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021. The storm is expected to last all day Saturday and into Sunday morning. In preparation for this winter weather, Town officials strongly encourage residents to stay off the roads as much as possible. Roads may look wet, but in fact be icy, creating dangerous driving conditions. Crews will begin salting primary routes, major through-streets, and intersections in neighborhoods once enough precipitation has fallen to keep the salt on the roadway. Pre- treatment of roadways is not possible as this storm is expected to begin as freezing rain, and any pre-treatment will be washed away. Residents may report roadway issues by calling the Leesburg Police Department Dispatch at 703-771-4500 or using the online reporting form at www.leesburgva.gov/snowissue. # # #
