CLEANING SIDEWALKS
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CLEANING OF SIDEWALKS
AND REMOVAL OF SNOW, ICE AND OTHER ACCUMULATIONS AND
ASSESSING THE EXPENSE THEREOF AGAINST THE ABUTTING
PROPERTY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIFFIN,
IOWA:
SECTION I. The purpose of this Ordinance is to insure
the public health and safety by providing that all snow,
ice and other accumulations shall be removed from the side-
walks of the City of Tiffin within twenty-four (24) hours.
SECTION II. As used in this Section, "property owner"
means the contract purchaser if there is one of record,
otherwise, the record holder of legal title.
SECTION III. It shall be the duty of the abutting
property owner to remove or cause to be removed, all snow,
ice, or other accumulations from all sidewalks, when the
depth of the snow, ice or other accumulation equals or
exceeds one inch.
SECTION IV. If the abutting property owner does not
remove or cause to be removed all snow, ice or other
accumulations within twenty-four (24) hours after the depth
of the snow, ice or other accumulation equals or exceeds
one inch, as required in Section. III, the City may remove
the snow, ice or, other accumulation, and assess the costs
against the abutting property owner for collection in the
same manner-as a property tax, said costs to be not less
than $25. 00 . for each time the City removes the snow, ice
or other accumulation.
SECTION V. any ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION VI. Saving Clause. If any section, provision
or part of this Ordinance shall be adjudged to be invalid
or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the
validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any section,
provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION VII. This Ordinance shall be in effect after
its final passage, approval and posting as provided by law.
The foregoing ordinance entitled AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
FOR THE "CLEANING OF SIDEWALKS AND REMOVAL OF. SNOW, ICE AND
OTHER ACCUMULATIONS AND ASSESSING THE EXPENSE THEREOF AGAINST
THE ABUTTING PROPERTY was published on the day of

public places within the limits, two of which places are the
mayor' s office and the post office.
