HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0666ORDINANCE N0. 666 AN ORDIR?ANCE OF THE CITY OF LYl•It~?OOD, CALIFORNIA AMENDING SECTION 1B, SECTIOD? 10, AND SECTION 12 OF ORDINANCE IdO. 433 OF SAID CITY. The City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follovas: SECTION l: That Section 1B of Ordinance No. 433 be amended to provide that noncornbustib].e rubbish shall also include rocks, stones, bricks, plaster, mortar, or other building mater°ials vrhether combustible or noncombustible, except when such items result from the repairing or demolishing of old buildings, or from new construction, it being the intent of this paragraph that reasonable quantities of all building materials will be collected. That all trash in order to be classified as either ''combusti- ble or noncon~oustible trash" and be collected under the provisions of Ordinance No, 433 shall be in bundles or containers not in excess of fifty (j0) pounds in weight for each bundle or container. SECTION 2: That Section 10 of Ordinance ATO, 433 shall be amended to read as follows: "The following charges are hereby estab- lished as the fees to be paid for serv-ice rendered in the collection and disposal of garbage and trash. "a. F'or each single family- dvrelling, seventy-five cents (75~) Per month for tyro (2) garbage collections per vreek and~or one (1) collection per vreek of combustible and noncombustible trash. "b. For two-family dwellings or two houses on the same lot under the same ownership, one dollar twenty cents ($'1.20) per month for two (2) garbage collections per week and.~or one (1) collection per week of combustible and noncombustible trash. "c. For all apartment houses, flats, courts, motels or multiple family dwellings, for two (2) garbage collections per vreek For the first unit, seventy-five cents (75S%)• For the second, third, and fourth units, forty-five cents (45¢) per unit. For the fifth and each additional unit, thirty cents (30~) per unit. "d. For each commercial establishment, seventy-five cents (75¢) per month for two (2) garbage collections pe.r week a?.zd~or one (1) collection per week of combustible and noncombustible trash. An additional charge of seventy-five cents (75~) per month v;ill be made for garbage collection service in excess of twice weekly if required. Y~Any commercial establishment or owner of multiple derelling units producing evidence through an affidavit that is not required, and where a licensed trash hauler paid for trash collection service, may be exempted charges at the discretion of the City Manager. SECTION 3: That Section 12 of Ordinance amended to read as follows: disposal service is employed and from the above exceptions will be No. 433 is hereby "The above fees shall be charged and billed as a monthly service charge, ,payable bi-moizthly. No credit vrill be allowed for a portion of a month's service. The City Treasurer vaill be responsible for all money collected and shall deposit 'the same in the general fund of the City. An accurate record showing service and collection of each location shall be kept." SECTION 4: This ordinance i-s urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety in the City of Lynvaood, and shall be in effect November 1, 1y57. SECTION 6: The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a net~rspaper of genera7_ circula- tion printed and circulated in the City of Lynt^aood First read at a regular meeting of the said City Council of the City of Lynwood held on the 1st day of October, 1957, and finally adopted and ordered puo19_shed at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 15th day of October, 1957 by the following vote: AYES.: Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, Pend.er, and.
