HomeMy Public PortalAbout2022 1122 St Charles County DayCITY OF RIVERDALE PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale has over the years been under many jurisdictions which are being highlighted this year as part of a series of proclamations. WHEREAS, on 1 October 1812, Missouri's territorial governor, William Clark, issued a proclamation declaring 5 organized districts and counties across the territory. WHEREAS, The county of St. Charles, including what is now Riverdale, had no definite limits, but extended from the Missouri River on the south, to the British territories on the north, to the Mississippi River on the east, and the Pacific Ocean on the west. WHEREAS, The area that encompasses Riverdale then became a "Non -County Area" of the Missouri Territory at the end of 1813 and remained as such until 10 August 1821 when it was no longer part of Missouri Territory after Missouri became a state. THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Anthony Heddlesten, Mayor of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, do hereby proclaim that October 1$` as ST CH tt {ISLES COUNTY D r�' Y In Riverdale, and encourage all staff, residents, and visitors to learn more about the history of the founding of our region and those who first help establish our community.
