HomeMy Public PortalAbout2019-07-011 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, JULY 1, 2019 CALL TO ORDER In the absence of Mayor Carrie Tergin, President Pro -Tempore called the July 1, 2019 City Council meeting to order at 6:04 P.M. ROLL CALL The following Council Members were present for the roll -call: Present: Fitzwater, Graham, Kemna, Mihalevich, Prather, Schreiber, and Wiseman Absent: Hensley, Hussey, and Ward A quorum was declared present. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA A motion was made by Councilman Kemna to adopt the agenda, removing Item 4(a.). Councilman Graham seconded the motion. There being no objection, the motion to adopt the amended agenda was approved unanimously. MISCELLANEOUS AGENDA ITEMS There were no miscellaneous items at this time. PUBLIC HEARINGS There were no public hearings at this time. APPOINTMENTS BY THE MAYOR There were no appointments at this time. PRESENTATIONS FROM STAFF, CONSULTANTS, AND INVITED GUESTS There were presentations at this time. ANNOUNCEMENTS BY MAYOR, COUNCIL, AND STAFF Councilman Mihalevich asked Kris Scheperle to make a few "Salute to America" announcements (flyer attached). Councilmembers were invited to participate in the parade. LINCOLN UNIVERSITY STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE UPDATE — Caroline Wanjiru There were no updates at this time. 2 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, JULY 1, 2019 PRESENTATIONS FROM THE GALLERY ON SPECIFIC BILLS OR RESOLUTIONS Dan Schmitz spoke against Bill 2019-019 related to the proposed roundabout at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Dunklin Street. Mr. Schmitz was in favor of eliminating the left hand turn lane and installing a cross -walk, rather than installing a roundabout. CONSENT AGENDA The following item was brought before the City Council for approval by Consent: a. Minutes of City Council Meeting: June 17, 2019 b. Accepting the Bid of $291,954 from Independent Salt Company for Sodium Chloride c. Declaring Certain City Owned Equipment Surplus and Authorizing Disposal by Trade -In A motion was made by Councilman Prather and seconded by Councilman Graham to approve the Consent Items. The motion was approved unanimously.
