E57 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY 'OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES LYING ON THE WEST SIDE OF ALAMEDA STREET AND EXTENDING SOUTHERLY OF IMPERIAL HIGHWAY. WHEREAS, pursuant to the Annexation of Uninhabited. Terri- ,story Act of 1839," there was presented. to the City Council of the / City of Lynwood, California., a petition dated. October 8, 1856, exe- cuted.by Pacific Iron & Steel Corporation of,Los Angeles, by D. B. Bertone, Secretary, and four others, requesting the annexation of certain property lying on the west side of Alameda Street and. extend.- ing southerly of Imperial Highway, in the County of Los Angeles, State of Ca.li£ornia, and hereinafter particularly d-escribed, and. WHEREAS, the City Council of said. city d.id by Resolution No. 2679, adopted on the 16th d.ay of October, 1956, duly gave notice ~a of and fixed. the 4th d.ay of December, 1956 at 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood., Cali- fornia, as the d.ay, hour, and place when and where any person owning real property in such territory so proposed. to be annexed. and. having any objections to the proposed. annexation might appear before said. City Council and. show cause why such territory should. not be so annexed, and. WHEREAS, said. resolution was published. in the Lynwood. Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed. and published. in the City of Lynwood., and also in the Herald. American, a newspaper of general circulation published. outside of the City of.Lynwood.but in the County in which is located. the territory proposed. to be annexed., and- WHEREAS, written notice of said. proposed. annexation was mailed. to each person to whom land. within the territory proposed. to be annexed. was assessed. in the last equalized. County assessment roll at the address shown on said. assessment roll, and. WHEREAS, no protests have been filed., and. WHEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with law, -1- a , NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the ,City of 'Lynwood. does ordain, as follows: Section 1. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited. Territory Act of 1839° as amended., the annexation of that certain terri- tory contiguous. to the City of Lynwood. in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, designated as "Alameda. Street Annexation No. 2" as hereinafter more particularly described, hereby is approved.. Said. territory lying on the west side of Alameda. Street and. extending southerly of Imperial Highway, and. in the County of Los Angeles, State of Cal ifornia, and. lying within the following described. lines: Beginning at a point in the westerly line of the parcel of land. marked. °Omri J. Bulbs 100.495 acres" on .map of the Bullis land recorded. in Book 3, page 399 of Miscellaneous Records in the office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles, California., distant northerly thereon 2028.55 feet, more or less, from the southwesterly corner of said. parcel of land., said. point being the northwesterly corner of the parcel of land. described. as Parcel 1 in deed. to Katsujiro Horiuchi, et a1, record.ed: in Book 47365, page 266, of the Official Records in the.office of said. Recorder; thence northerly along the westerly line of the aforementioned. parcel of land,."Omri J. Bullis 100.485 acres" to the center line of Imperial Highway (formerly Lynwood. Road) as shown on map of Watts Park Tract recorded. in Book 8, page 70 of Maps, in the office of said. Recorder; thence easterly along said. center line to the boundary line of the City of Lynwood. as said boundary line existed. on June 15, 1956; thence southerly along said. last mentioned. boundary and following the same'in all its various courses to a point on the easterly line of aforementioned. Parcel 1 in deed. to Katsujiro Horiuchi, et al; thence northerly and westerly along the boundary of said last mentioned. parcel of land. to the point of beginning. Section 2. This ordinance is urgently required. f or the immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety in the City -2- 1' of Lynwood., and. shall be~in effect immediately upon adoption. The following is a specific statement showing the emergency of this ordinance: The proposed. annexation is need.ed.in order that adequate water service and. fire protection may be provided by the City of Lynwood.. Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby ordered. and. directed. to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood. Press, a newspaper of general circu- lation, printed., published., and. circulated. in the City of Lynwood. First read. at a regular meeting of the City. Council of said.
