RESOLUTION SETTING A POLICY FOR
CERTAIN PUBLIC PURPOSE ACTIVITIES
WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale, Iowa ("City") is a municipal corporation, organized and operating under
the laws of the State of Iowa; and,
WHEREAS, the City believes that certain activities such as employee recognition, volunteer recognition,
and meal and ancillary costs for City -sponsored meetings and events serve the important public purpose
of enhancing employee, volunteer, and community participant morale and community spirit; and,
WHEREAS, in order to allow for the expenditure of public funds for items of this nature, the State Auditor
and Iowa Attorney General have indicated that the City must specifically authorize these items as a public
purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, that:

City Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of public funds for employee recognition,
volunteer recognition, and meal and ancillary costs for City -sponsored meetings and events.
Said expenditures shall be approved on a case -by -case basis by the Mayor if planned to be
under the aggregate amount of $250 per event or occurrence, or by the City Council in
advance if aver $250. All such expenditures must be within the overall budget authorized
by the City Council.
The City specifically affirms that the public purpose of these activities is to enhance
employee, volunteer, and community participant morale and community spirit, promoting
an efficient and effective organization.
Section 4: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, to the extent
of such conflict.
