ORDINANCE NO. 639
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ADOPTING A
UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE,,EXCEPT CERTAIN,PORTIONS
OF SAID CODE, WHICH CODE PROVIDES FOR THE PRO-
TECTION OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY, REGULATES
PERMITS FOR THE 'INSTALLATION OR ALTERATION OF
PLUMBING, GAS., AND DRAINAGE SYSTEMS, AND REGU-
LATES AND DEFINES .OTHER MATTERS.PERTAINING
THERETO, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 592 OF
THE CITY OF.LYNWOOD.
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Lynwood;
Section l: Adoption of Plumbing Code.
There is hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of
Lynwood that certain code known as the Uniform Plumbing Code, recom-
mended by the Western Plumbing Officials Assocation, being particularly
the 1955 edition, except that Sections 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.: 8, 2.9,
2.10, 2.11, 2.12 of Part Two of said code shall be portions of said.
code not hereby adopted, of which code not less than three (3) copies
have been and now are filed in the office of the Clerk of the City
of Lynwood and the same are hereby adopted and. incorporated as fully
as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this
ordinance shall .take effect, the provisions .thereof shall be controlling
within the limits of the City of Lynwood..
Section 2: Penalties.
a. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of
the code hereby adopted or fail to comply therewith or who shall
violate or fail to comply with any order made thereunder, or any
detailed statement of specifications or plans submitted and approved.
thereunder, or any certificate or permits issued thereunder, and from '
which no appeal has been taken, or who shall fail to comply with such
an order as affirmed or modified by the City Council or by a court of
competent ,jurisdiction, within the time fixed herein, shall severally
for each and every such violation and noncompliance respectively, be
guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than Five
Hundred'Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment for not more than one
hundred eighty (180) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
The imposition of one penalty for any violation shall not excuse the
violation or permit it to continue; and all,such persons shall be
required to correct or remedy such violations or defects within a
reasonable time, and when not otherwise specified, each ten days
that prohibited conditions are maintained shall constitute a separate
offense.
b. The application of the above penalty shall not be held
to prevent the enforced removal of prohibited conditions.
Section 3,: Repeal of Conflicting Ordinances.
Ordinance No. 592 of the City of Lynwood is hereby repealed,
and all former ordinances or parts thereof conflicting or inconsistent
with the provisions of this ordinance or of the code hereby adopted
are hereby repealed.
Section 4: Validity.
The City Council hereby declares that should. any section,
paragraph, sentence, or word of this ordinance or of the code hereby
adopted be declared for any reason to be invalid, it is the intent
of the City Council that it would have passed all other portions of
this ordinance independent of the elimination herefrom of any such
portion as may be declared invalid..
Section 5: Date of Effect.
This ord.ina.nce shall take effect and be in force from and.
after its approval as required by law; Ordinance No. 592 and all
other ordinances mentioned in Section 3 hereof shall remain in full
force and effect until the effective date of this ordinance.
Section 6: The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the adoption of this ordinance and to cause the same
to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general
circulation,-printed. and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
said City held on the 20th day of December, 1955 and finally ad-opted'
and ordered published at a regular meeting of said Couneil held on
the 3rd day of January, 1956 by the following vote:

Pender, Willard.
Noes: Councilmen None.
Absent: Councilmen None.
