HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0637~ ~7 ORDINANCE N0. 637 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES.LYING EASTERLY OF THORSON AVENUE. WHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1839," as amended, a petition was presented. to the City Council of the City of Lynwood on the 4th d.ay of October, 1955, requesting the annexation by the City of Lynwood. of that certain territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood in the County of Los Angeles lying easterly of Thorson Avenue and. hereinafter more particularly described., and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2614 adopted. by the City Council of the City of Lynwood. on the 4th day of October, 1955 and. a newspaper of general circulation,printed and published in said City of published. in the Lynwood. Press,/ a newspaper of general circulation Lynwoo and also in the Herald American/ published outside of the City of Lynwood. but in the County in which is located. the territory proposed. to be annexed., the City Council of the City of Lynwood duly gave notice of and fixed. the 15th d.ay of November, 1955 at 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road., Lynwood, California, as the day, hour, and. place when and where any person owning real property in such terri- tory so proposed to be annexed and. having any objections to the pro- posed. annexation might appear before said City Council and. show cause why such territory should. not be so annexed., and. WHEREAS, no protests have been filed; and. WHEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with law; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follows: Section l: That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited. Territory Act of 1939," as amended., the annexation of that certain uninhabited territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood. in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, designated. as "Ozell Manor Annex No. 5" as hereinafter more particularly described.,, hereby is approved. -1- Said territory lying easterly of Thorson Avenue in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, within the following described lines: Beginning at the intersection of a line 10 feet easterly of and pararlel to the westerly line of . Thorson Avenue and the westerly prolongation of the southerly line of Lot 2 of J. J. Bullis Tract, as shown on map recorded in Book 3, pages 612 and 613 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, said point being on the boundary line of the City of Lynwodd as said boundary line existed April 18, 1955; thence northerly along said boundary line and following the same in all its various courses to a point on the southerly line of said. Lot 2; thence North 71° lot 55" West along said last described line and its westerly prolongation to the point of beginning. Section 2: This ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety in the City of Lynwood and shall be in effect immediately upon adoption. The following is a specific statement showing the emergency of this ordinance: The proposed improvement of Carlin Avenue cannot be com- pleted to provide proper street drainage of territory already within the City boundaries until said territory is in the City of Lynwood. Section 3: The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circu- lation, printed and published and circulated in the City of Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 15th day of November, 1955 and finally adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 20th day of December, 1955, by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen: Bruner, McMeekin, Pearson, - Pender.
