HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0628ORDINANCE N0. (,z8 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD REGULATING BILLIARD OR POOL ROOMS. The City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follows: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to be in, remain in, enter, or visit any billiard or pool room. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person having charge or control of any billiard or pool room to permit or suffer any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to be in, remain in, enter, or visit any billiard or pool room. Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person to send any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to any billiard or pool room';: or permit, allow, require, or engage any-such person to carry any package, letter, note, telegram, or message to or from any billiard or pool room within the City of Lynwood. Section 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in a sum not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment in the City or County Jail for a term not exceeding one hundred and eighty days (180) or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 5. This ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety of the City of Lynwood and shall be in effect immediately upon adoption. The following is a specific statement showing the emergency of this ordinance. The City of Lynwood at present has .no regulations govern- ing the attendance at billiard or pool rooms by persons under the age of eighteen (18) years and this ordinance is needed to provide a legal method by which these persons can be kept out of these -1- places, numerous complaints having been received of persons under the age of eighteen (18) loitering therein. Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and. cause the same to be published in the Lynwood. Press, a newspaper printed., published, and. circulated in the City of Lynwood, First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said. City held on the 3rd day of May, 1955, and finally adopted. and. ordered. published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 7th d.ay of June, 1955, by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Bruner, McMeekin, Pearson, Pender, Willard.
