ORDINANCE NO. 1983-110
AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE AMOUNT OF PAYMENT TO ELECTED
OFFICIALS FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTIES.

BE IT ENACTED by the City Council. of the City of Tiffin,
Iowa:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this Ordinance is to provide for
payment of elected officials for the performance of their duties
for the City.
SECTION 2 . As used in this Ordinance, "elective officials"
means the Mayor and City Council members .
SECTION 3 . Compensation for City Council members. Tiffin
City Council Members shall receive compensation according to the
following schedule :
$20 . 00 for each regular meeting attended by the
Councilmember.
$10. 00 for each special council meeting attended by the
Councilmember.
$10. 00 for each additional meeting attended by the
Councilmember at the direction of the Mayor or City Council of
the following groups :
Johnson County Council of Government
Civil Defense
Planning and Zoning
SECTION 4. Compensation of Mayor. The Mayor shall receive
$500 . 00 annually as compensation.
SECTION 5 . Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 6 . Severability. If any section, provision, or
part of this Ordinance shall be adjudged to be invalid or uncon-
stitutional , such adjudication shall not affect the validity of
the ordinance as a whole, or any section, provision, or part
thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional .
SECTION 7. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in
effect beginning January 1 , 1984 .
On the 9th day of March , 1983 , at a regular
• meeting of the Tiffin City Council , Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson
Rohret introduced Ordinance No. 110 , and moved that it
be given its first reading. The motion was seconded by
Councilperson Brown . Ayes : Brown, Spivey, Rohret,
Cox
Nayes :
Motion carried.
The reading of the ordinance was completed and discussed and
placed on record.
A motion was made by Councilperson Spivey to
adopt Ordinance # 110 and seconded by Councilperson
Brown . Ayes : Brown, Spivey, Rohret,
Cox
Nayes : . Motion carried.
On the 9th day of March , 1983 , at a regular
meeting of the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa, with a majority of
the Council members present, Councilperson Rohret
moved that the rule requiring a second and third reading and
reading on three different dates be dispensed with. This motion
was seconded by Councilperson Spivey
Ayes : Brown, Spivey, Rohret, Cox
Nayes :
Motion carried.
Whereupon the Mayor declared that Ordinance No. 110 be
adopted and signified his approval of the same by fixing his
signature thereto.
Passed by the -Council on the 9th .day of March
1983 , and approved by the Mayor on the 9th day of March
1983 .
