HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0614~ i ~- ORDINANCE N0. 614 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES LYING NORTHERLY OF CARLIN AVENUE AND EASTERLY OF THORSON AVENUE, WHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited. Terri- tory Act of 1839," as amended, the City Council of the City of Lynwood did by Resolution No. 2567, adopted on the 7th day of September, 1g54, initiate proceedings for annexation by said City of certain uninhabited territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood in the County of Los Angeles lying northerly of Carlin Avenue and easterly of Thorson Avenue and hereinafter particularly described, and WHEREAS, by said Resolution published in the Lynwood .Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed., a.nd published in the City of Lynwood, and also in the Herald American, a newspaper of general circulation published outside of the City of Lynwood but in the County in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed, the City Council of the City of Lynwood duly gave notice of and fixed. the 5th day of October, 1954, at 8:00 p,m, in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood, California, as the day, hour, and place when and where any person owning real property in such territory so proposed to be annexed and having any objection to the proposed annexation might appear before said City Council and. show cause why such territory should not be so annexed; and WHEREAS, no protests have been filed; and WHEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with law; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follows: Section l: That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939" as amended, the annexation of that certain uninhabited territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, designated as "Ozell Manor No. 4" as hereinafter more particularly described, hereby is approved. -1- Said territory lying northerly of Carlin Avenue and t 3 ~ easterly of Thorson Avenue in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, within the following described lines: Commencing at the northwesterly corner of Lot 2 of the J. J. Bulbs Tract, as shown on map recorded in Book 3, pages 612 and 613 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California; thence South 19° 151 West along the westerly line of said Lot 306.67 feet; thence North 71°West 33 feet to a point on the easterly boundary line of the City of Lynwood. as said boundary line existed July 14, 1954, the true point of beginning; thence South 71° East 245.20 feet; thence North 19°151 East 110 feet; thence South 71° East 282.80 feet; thence South~l9°151 West 110 feet; thence South 71° East 309 feet; thence South 19°151' Glest 157.83 feet; thence South 71°East 7 feet; thence South 19°15~ West 464.78 feet to a point on the southerly line of aforementioned Lot 2; thence North 71° west 514 feet along said southerly line of Lot 2; thence North 19°151- East 315.94 feet; thence North 71° West 120 feet;-thence North 19° 151 East 83.67 feet; thence North 71° West 220 feet to a point on the aforementioned boundary line of the City of Lynwood; thence northerly along said boundary line to the point of beginning. Section 2: This ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety in the City of Lynwood and shall be in effect immediately upon adoption. The following is a declaration of the facts constituting the urgency of this ordinance: There presently exists a need. for additional housing facilities in the City of Lynwood and said land proposed to be annexed by the City will provide suitable area for the development of resi- dences. The City of Lynwood lacks area suitable for subdivision pur- poses and the proposed annexation will help fill this great need of the City. The immediate enactment of this ordinance is necessary to insure the general welfare and continued progress of the City of Lynwood. 'Section 3: The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circu- lation, printed and published. and circulated in the City of Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 5th day of October, 1954, and finally adopted and ordered.fpublished at an adjourned regular meeting of said Council held on the 26th da.y of October, 1854, by the following vote: . , AYES: COUNCILMEN Bruner, McMeekin, Pearson Pender, Willard.
