HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0611-~6 e1 ORDINANCE N0, 611 AN ORDINANCE OF THE INCORPORATED CITY OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING TAX DISTRICT NUMBER 1 OF SAID CITY, FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES, AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR, BEGINNING JULY 1, 1954 AND END- ING JUNE 30, 1955. The City Council of the City of Lynwood, California, does ordain as follows; to-wit: Section l: Tax District No, 1, That for the purposes of taxation, all of that territory and lands lying and being in the corporate limits of the City of Lynwood, California prior to February 1, 1954 be known as and constitute Tax District No, 1 of said City, Section 2: That the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Lynwood, County of Los Angeles, State of California, in Tax District Number 1 of said City, to provide for carrying on the various functions of municipal government in said City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1954 and ending June 30,. 1955, is hereby fixed at the sum of Two Hundred Thirty-two Thousand Four Hundred Forty-one and 10/100ths Dollars ($232,441,10), Section 3: That in addition to the amount of money neces- sary to be raised as aforesaid, the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the corporate limits of said City in Tax District No, 1 of said City to provide for the payment to the State Employees Retirement System according to the terms of contract with the State of-California for making the officials and employees of the City of Lynwood members of the State Employees Retirement System; authority for the execution of said contract as granted by Ordinance No, 426, adopted by a vote of the qualified electors of the City of Lynwood the 16th day of April, 1846. For the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1954 and ending June 30, 1955, it is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty-eight Thousand Three Hundred Eighty-four and 23/100ths Dollars ($28,384,23), -1- Section 4: That in addition to the amount of money neces- sary to be raised as aforesaid, the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the corporate limits of said City and in Tax District No, 1 of said City to provide for a fund for maintenance and improvement of public parks for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1954 and ending June 30, 1955, is hereby fixed at the sum of Five Thousand Five Hundred Thirty-four and 32/100ths Dollars ($5,534.32), Section 5: That for the purpose of raising the sums of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the City limits of said City of Lynwood as the revenue to carry on the function of the various departments of said City; to provide a park maintenance and improvement fund; to provide payment to State Employeesp Retirement Fund as authorized in Ordinance No. 426, the rates of taxes are hereby fixed and taxes are hereby levied on all taxable property within the City Limits of said City, included in Tax District Number 1 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1954 and end.- ,ing June 30, 1955 upon each $100.00 of the assessed value of said pro- perty as assessed by the County Assessor and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, for the said fiscal year, as follows: For General Purposes $0,84 For Public Park Maintenance and Improvement 0.02 For Cityts contribution to State-Retirement Fund authorized. at Election held April 1946 0,10 $G.9 Section 6: Pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 608, adopted~by the City Council of said City on the 16th day of February 1954, the City Council does further ordain that the City Treasurer has filed with it a report that there is in the "Swimming Pool Bonds, -2- 1954, Interest and Redemption Fund" of the treasury of said City, a sum sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds as it falls due and such part of the principal as will become due for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1954 and ending June 30, 1955. Section 7: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately in accordance with the terms of Section 36937 of the Government Code of the State of California. Section 8: That the City Clerk of said City shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in said City of Lynwood, First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of ' said City held on the 17th day of August, 1954, and finally adopted and ordered published at an adjourned regular meeting of said Council held on the 26th day of August, 1954, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bruner; McMeekin, Pearson, and Willard, ` NOES: Councilmen: None, -` _ ABSENT: Councilman Pender, "y `_ - . ~- .. `_ .
