AN ORDIPdANCE OF THE CTTY OF LYNt^i00D AP4ENDING
CHAPTERS III, VIII, AND IX OF ORDIDiANCE N0. 570,
AND ADDING CHAPTER VIVA THERETO.
The City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as
follows:
SEGTTON l: Section 3.00 of Chapter III of Ordinance ?do.
570 shall be amended by adding thereto "C-2-a Pdedium Commercial Zone.."
SECTION ~; Section 8.03 of Chapter VIII of Ordinance No.
570 shall be amended to read as follows;
"Section 8..03. OTHER USES PROHIBITED. Nothing in this
Chapter shall be construed. to authorize in an,y C-2 'Lone any business,
use, institution, or establishment which is specifically authorized in
the C-2-a or C-3 Zone or in any "M" Zone.."
SECTION 3; Ordinance No. 570 shall be amended by adding
thereto Chapter VIIIA, which eha11 provide as follows:
"Chapter VIIIA: C-2-a - MEDIUM COh3i-iERCIAL ZONE. The
following regulations shall apply in the C-2-a. Medium Commercial Zone:
"Section 8A.01: USE. No building or land shall be used. or
occupied for and no building shall be erected, constructed, established,
altered, enlarged, or moved into a C-2-a Zone with a minimum gross floor
area of less than 600 square feet and. which is to be used or occupied
for purposes other than the following:
"l. Any use permitted in~C-'L Zone.
"2. ~4hen conducted entirely within a building, provided
such. operations are not objectionable due to noise, odor, dust, smoke,
vibration, or other similar ea.uses;
"a, The manufacture, compounding, processing, or treatment
of such products as bakery goods, candy, cosmetics, d..air,y products,
food products, drugs, perfumes, pharmaceuticals, soap (cold mix only),
and toiletries,
"b. The manufacture, compounding, or treatment of articles
of merchandise from the following previously prepared materials: bone,

cellophane, canvas, cloth, cork, feather, felt, fibre, fur, glass,
hair, horn, lea her, paper, plastics, precious or semiprecious metals
or stones, shell, textiles, tobacco, ,yarns, and paint not employing a
boiling process,
"c, The manufacture of ceramic products, including figurines,
using only previously pulverized cla.,y, and kilns fired only by electri-
city or low pressure gas,
°d The manufacture and maintenance of electric and neon
signs, billboards, commercial advertising structures.
"e, P~Ianufacture of musical instruments, toys, novelties,
rubber a.nd metal stamps.
"f, Tire retreading or recapping (limited to the operation
of not more than four (4) molds),
"g. Assembly of electrical appliances, electronic instru-
menu and devices, radios and phonographs, inelud.ing the manufacture
of small parts only, such as coils, condensers, transformers, crystal
holders, a.nd the like.,
"Section 8A,02: OTHER USES PROHIBITED. Nothing in this
Chapter shall be construed to authorize in an,y C-2-a Zone any business,
tzse, institution, or establishment which is specifically authorized in
the C-3 Zone or in any "Ti" Zone,
"Section 8A.03: HEIGHT. No building hereafter erected or
structurally altered shall exceed six (6) stories or seventy-five (75)
feet.
"Section 8A.04; FRONT YARD, Nhere all the frontage on one
side of the street between taro intersecting streets is located in a
°C-2-a.° Zone, no front ,yard shall be required, ti^lhere the frontage on
one side of the street between two intersecting streets is located in
a "C-2-a" Zone and an "R" Zone, the front ,yard requirements of the "R"
Zone shall apply to the "C-2-a" Zone.
"Section 8A,05: SIDE YARD., L^there the side of a lot in the
"C-2-a" Zone abuts upon the sid.e•of a lot ih~ any "R" Zone, there shall

be a side yard of not less than five (5) feet. When a reversed
corner lot -rea.rs upon a. lot in any °R" Zone, the side yard on the
street side of the reversed corner lot shall be not less than fifty
(50;x) per cent of the front yard required on the lots in the rear of
such corner lot. In all other cases, a side yard for a. commercial
building shall not be required,"
SECTION 4~: Section 9,01(1), Chapter IX of Ordinance No.
570 shall be amended, to read as follows:
"section 9.01(1) Any use permitted in the C-2-a S•4edium
Commercial."
SECTION 5: Section 9.01(6), Chapter IX of Ordinance No.
570 shall be amended to read as follows:
"section 9,01(6) When conducted vrholly vaithin a building:
"(a) The manufacture, compounding, or treatment of wood
(excluding planing mill).
"(b) The manufacture and maintenance of light sheet metal
products, including heating and. ventilating ducts and equipment,
cornices, eaves, and the like.
"(c) Manufacture of small boats (under twenty (20) feet)..
"(d) Battery manufacturing, and automobile reconditioning.
"(e) Laundry, cleaning, a.nd dyeing vaorks, and. carpet and
rug cleansing,
"(f) Distribution plants, parcel delivery, ice and cold
storage plant, bottling plant, poultry or rabbit killing, food commis-
sary establishment, and feed and fuel.
"(g) ilholesale business, storage buildings, and. warehouses.
- "(h) Dog Kennels (7 or more adult dogs), a.nd veterinary
hospital.
"I(.i) Machine shops, limited to small lathes and drill
presses,"
SECTION 6: The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed
to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to

be published once in the Lynwood Press, a nevrspaper of general
circulation printed and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
said City held on the 19th day of TRay, 1953, and finally adopted and
ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the
2nd day of June, 1953 by the following vote:
Ayea; Councilmen Bruner, Daetweiler, Pearson.
Sneddon~ and yTillard.
Noea; Councilmen Nane.
Abaent:Councilmen Nore.
