AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 73 OF THE„ORDINANCES OF TIFFIN, IOWA,' '
SAID ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RATES FOR'?SERVICET CHARGESWFOR THE1COLLECTION
OF GARBAGE AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION OF .GARBAGE WITHIN THE CITY
OF TIFFIN BY CONTRACT WITH ONE OR MORE PRIVATE COLLECTORS'. '•
.. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF TIFFIN,' IOWA:
SECTION I. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is• to amend
the present City of Tiffin Ordinance No. 73 so as to establish a
rate: for the collection of garbage within the City of Tiffin.
SECTION II. Amendmen Section"c°3 :ofeOrdinance No. 73 of the
City of Tiffin Ordinances is hereby repealed and the following
' Section 3 hereby 'substituted in lieu thereof:
u SECTION "3'. Rates and Charges. The rate of charge for each occupied x”
dwelling unit shall be determined yearly and shall be collected on
a quarterly basis. Each landowner shall be notified in their Ma`yc, billing
of the quarterly charge for the ensuing twelve month 'period. For those
individual landowners of the City of Tiffin who are over the age of ' ,
a ,
sixty-two, the rate on their homestead shall be reduced by one-half; upon 1
application being made to the City at the, City Hall, provided there is
tl
no more than one person under the age of sixty-two residing with the" `
landowner. r
Statements for garbage collection services will be sent to the landowner
in whose name the sewage bill is listed upon the town sewer records.
'Unoccupied dwelling units will not be charged for garbage-collection providing, `
noticeiof vacancy of a dwelling unit has been given to the City. Payment `
of the above charges shall be paid the,tenth of, thee=month of the- first i
month of each billing quarter: Any charge not paid when due shall become
a lien on the property served by =the garbage collection system and shall•be collected in the same manner as other taxes. ' .
Effective June 1,q1984 the charge for each dwelling unit described
- above-shall be $9'.60 per .quarter or $4.80 for those over sixty-two years
of age who qualify for the half-price rate.
ZECTION` III. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of. ordinances '
in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are repealed.
SECTION IV. Saving Clause. If any part, portion or provision of
,this ordinance shall be adjudged to'be invalid or unconstitutional, such
adjudication shall not affect the validity of this'ordinance as a whole, '
or any section, part or provision thereof not adjudged invalid or F .

SECTION V. When Effective. This ordinance shall be' in effect after
. its final. passage, approval and passage as provided ,by law.
