RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO SUBMIT A MID -AMERICAN ENERGY
TREES PLEASE! GRANT FOR $1,000 IN MATCHING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale, Iowa ("City") is a municipal corporation, organized and operating under
the laws of the State of Iowa; and,
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of removing several trees that are dead, dying, or dangerous and
wishes to replace these trees with new, healthy trees; and,
WHEREAS, Mid -American Energy's annual Trees Please! grant application is open until December 31,
2022; and,
WHEREAS, Trees Please! is a matching grant, meaning that the City must provide a matching amount to
the grant request, such as materials, labor, etc.; and,
WHEREAS, the City wishes to submit an application for the Trees Please! grant in the amount of $1,000;
therefore, the City's matching obligation would be $1,000 as well (for materials, labor, etc.); and,
WHEREAS, the funding sources for this action are:
001-510-6490 - Community Beautification
001-430-6599 - Parks Supplies and Plantings
001-650-6490 - City Hall Miscellaneous Expense
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERDALE, IOWA,
THAT:
Section 1. Staff is authorized to complete and submit a Mid -American Energy Trees Please! grant
application by December 31, 2022, pledging up to $1,000 in matching funds from the City.
