HomeMy Public PortalAbout95-031 (03-07-95)RESOLUTION NO. 95 -31 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE THROUGH INFORMAL BIDS CERTAIN USED VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS WHEREAS, Many of the Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for FY 1994 -95 and FY 1995 -96 are being implemented in -house with the use of local labor (students) with rented vehicles and equipment, and; WHEREAS, the continued rental of vehicles and equipment will be needed for a considerable amount of time to complete the projects; and WHEREAS, the purchase of used vehicles and then disposing of the equipment at the end of the projects is more economical than if the equipment is rented for long periods of time, and WHEREAS, the vehicles and equipment can be purchased from the CIP projects in which they are to be used; and_ WHEREAS, this vehicle and equipment purchase can be more economically and efficiently effected if done through an informal bid; and WHEREAS, under Section 6 -3.13 of the Lynwood Municipal Code, City Council can authorize purchases through informal bids by a 4/5 vote. ' NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows: Section 1. That the City Council authorizes that the following used vehicles and equipment be purchased for use with the CIP projects as follows: two (2) used full size pick up trucks, one (1) used flat bed truck, one (1) used air compressor with jackhammers, and one (1) used Bobcat with trailer and attachments, for an approximate cost of $62,000. Section 2 . That staff is authorized to dispose of the vehicles and equipment as the CIP projects are completed and the need for these vehicles and equipment ceases. Section 3. That CIP projects be charged for the purchase of these vehicles and equipment for which they are to be used. Section 4. That the City Council finds that this can be more efficiently and economically effected by an informal bid procedure. Section 5. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
