HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinances-1986-139 s Ordinance No. 1986-139 page 1 ORDINANCE NO. 1985-139 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 62 AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 120 OF THE ORDINANCES OF TIFFIN, IOWA SAID ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RATES, CHARGES AND RULES FOR THE USE AND SERVICE OF THE MUNICIPAL WATER SYSTEM OF TIFFIN, IOWA. BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIFFIN, IOWA: SECTION I. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Ordinance No. 62 and repeal Ordinance No. 120 so as to establish a minimum monthly water rate for each family, residential dwelling, or living unit, located on any premises in Tiffin, Iowa. SECTION II. Amendment. Section I of Ordinance No. 62 and Ordinance No. 1984-120 of the City of Tiffin Ordinances are repealed and the following Section I is substituted in lieu thereof: SECTION I. That there shall be and there are established rates and charges for the use of and for the service supplied by the Municipal Water System of the City of Tiffin, Iowa, to each residential dwelling, family or living unit located on any premises based upon the water reading of the amount of water consumed, as follows: a) First 3,000 gallons or lesser amount, for each dwelling, family, residential or living unit, the minimum monthly fee shall be $9.50 b) All water used over 3,000 gallons per month shall be charged in increments of 1,000 gallons at $3.00 per 1,000 Effective date of rate increase shall be October 1, 1986 SECTION III. Repealer. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION IV. Severability. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the ordinance as a whole, or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION V.- Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect after its final passage, approval and posting as provided by law. Councilman Morgan introduced the foregoing ordinance which was then duly read and considered by the Council..
