RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF REALLOCATED REVENUE, GENERATED BY THE SAFE
NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS PROPOSITION OF 1992, FROM THE CITY OF
VERNON FOR MAINTAINING AND SERVICING THE MERVYN DYMALLY
PARK REHABILITATION PROJECT OR OTHER QUALIFIED PROJECT
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County enacted the Safe Neighborhood
Parks Proposition of 1992 which provides funds to incorporated
cities of Los Angeles County for maintaining and servicing
facilities for public recreation; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space
District has been delegated the responsibility for the necessary
procedures governing applications by local agencies under the
program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon does not have any current program
to use the 1993 -1994 and 1994 -1995 allocations for maintaining and
servicing facilities for public recreation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has parks, recreation and
community service facilities which benefit the residents of the
surrounding area, including the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has communicated that it is
willing to accept the transfer of funds allocated to the City of
Vernon and use them for maintaining and servicing the Mervyn
Dymally Park Renovation Project which will benefit residents of all
surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County has authorized the transfer to a
neighborhood community of approximately $3,807.88 per year in
maintenance and servicing funds allocated to the City of Vernon
under the Safe Neighborhood Parks Proposition of 1992.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LYNWOOD
' AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of Lynwood hereby finds and
determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and
correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of Lynwood hereby authorizes
the City of Vernon and Los Angeles County to transfer its
allocation of the maintenance and servicing funds for 1993 -1994 and
1994 -1995 (anticipated to be $3,807.88 per year) to the City of
Lynwood for use in the Mervyn Dymally Park Renovation Project or in
any other qualified parks, recreation or community service
programs.
SECTION 3: The City Council of Lynwood hereby accepts the
transfer of said maintenance and servicing funds without any
consideration.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Lynwood shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
