AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF ORDINANCE_
NO. (783 SECTION 20 , REGARDING BUILDING PERMITS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA:
SECTION I . Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to
provide a penalty for the violation of the zoning ordinance which
requires a building permit before any building may be altered,
erected, extended, or changed in use. Requirement for a building
permit is found in Ordinance No. 83 Sec . 20.
SECTION II . Statement of Penalties . It shall be unlawful
for any person in the City of Tiffin, Iowa to erect, alter ,
extend, or change in use any building or structure as defined in
Ordinance No. 83 without first obtaining a building permit
setting forth the project to be completed. Violation of this
ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a
fine of up to $100 or up to 30 days in jail .
SECTION III . Repealer. All ordinances, or parts of
ordinances , in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV. Severabili . If any section, provision, or
part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or
unconsitutional , such adjudication shall not effect the ordinance
as a whole or any section, provision, or part thereof not
adjudged invalid or unconstitutional .
SECTION V. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be
effective July 1, 1987.
Councilman Runge introduced the foregoing
ordinance which was then duly read and considered by the Council .
Its adoption was moved by Councilman Stoner
and seconded by Councilman Runge . On roll call vote
Councilman Flensburg . Morgan , Runge . Stoner , Stratton
voted "Aye" . Councilman voted "Nay" .
Mayor declared motion carried.
Councilman Flensburg then moved that the rule or
law requiring three readings of this ordinance on three
difference date be dispensed with. Seconded by Councilman
Stratton . On roll call vote Councilman Morgan ,
Flensburg , Stoner, Runge, Stratton voted "Aye"-. Councilman
voted "Nay" .
Councilman Morgan then moved for final
adoption ofjthis ordinance, seconded by Councilman
Flensburg , . On roll call vote Councilman
Flansburg, _ Stoner , Runge , Morgan , Stratton voted "Aye" .
Councilman voted "Nay" .
The Mayor then declared Ordinance No. 1987-143 duly passed
