A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE PARTICIPATION IN THE APPLICATION AND
SUBSEQUENT IMPLEMENTATION OF A STATE OF CALIFORNIA
OFFICE OF CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION (O.C.A.P.)
JUVENILE CRIME PREVENTION DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The State of California Office of Child Abuse
Prevention is offering competitive grant opportunities to local
' agencies in the area of juvenile crime prevention demonstration
programs; and
WHEREAS, These grants involve such activities as; Families
Together with Schools, Mothers and Sons, Family Resource Center,
First Offender Family Preservation and After School Programs; and
WHEREAS, Project Impact has much experience in many of
the above noted areas; and
WHEREAS, Project Impact has also worked cooperatively with the
City of Lynwood in the implementation of such juvenile diversion
programs as "Right Way" as well as the "Tree of Life" program; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood Recreation and Community Services
Department has numerous years of quality experience in planning,
implementing and evaluating After School Programs; and
WHEREAS, Project Impact is desirous of having the City of
Lynwood participate in the application and implementation process
of a grant.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of
Lynwood authorizes theCLty's support and participation in the
' preparation and implementation of a State of California Office of
Child Abuse Prevention Juvenile Crime Prevention Demonstration
Program. The City Council authorizes the following:
1. The Director of Recreation and Community Services or his
designee work with the staff at Project Impact in the
preparation of the necessary grant application documents.
2. The Director of Recreation and Community Services or his
designee operate the After School Program Component of
the grant program to be funded through proceeds of the
grant.
