HomeMy Public PortalAbout2687-1972 - Upon a separation of an employee they are still eligible for unused vacation daysORDINANCE NO. 2687-1972 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION_3,06 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AND PROVIDING THAT UPON THE DEATH, RESIGNATION, OR OTHER TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT, OF CITY EMPLOYEES, SUCH CITY EMPLOYEES SHALL RECEIVE COMPENSATION FOR ANY VACATION DAYS WHICH HAVE BEEN EARNED BUT NOT USED BY SAID TERMINATING EMPLOYEES. WHEREAS, SECTION 3.06 of the MUNICIPAL CODE OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, NOW READS: 3.06 EMPLOYEE VACATIONS. All city employees, whether employed on an annual, monthly, weekly or hourly basis, who have been employed by the City for a period of from six months to one year continuously, shall be granted one full weeks vacation each year, and during said week shall be paid in full their regular wage or salary during.,,the time of such vacation; and all city employees, whether employed on an annual,monthly, weekly or hourly basis, who have been employed by the city for a period of one year or more continuously, shall be qranted two full weeks vacation each year, and during such two weeks shall be paid in full their regular wage or salary during the time of such vacation. WHEREAS, the State Board of Accounts in the Cities and Towns Bulletin of September, 1970, stated that the Common Council of Municipalities may decide whether City Employees, upon their death, resignation, or other termination of employment are entitled to compensation for those vacation days which have been earned but not used by said terminating City Employees; WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that City Employees be compensated for any vacation days earned but not used; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that; SECTION ONE. Section 3.06 of the Municipal Code of Richmond,Indiana, be amended to read as follows: n �. 3.06 EMPLOYEE VACATIONS 411 City employees, whether employed on an annual, monthly, weekly or hourly basis, who have been employed by the City for a period of from six months to ore.year.con- tinuously, shall be granted one full weeks vacation each year, and during said week shall be oaid in full their regular wages or salary during the time of such vacation; and all city employees, whether em- ployed on an annual, monthly, weekly or hourly basis, who have been employed by the city for a period of one year or more continuously, shall be granted two full weeks vacation each year, and during such two weeks shall be paid in full their regular wage or salary during the time of such vacation. Any city employee or his or her heirs, success- ors, or assigns, shall receive upon said City Employees death, resignation or other termination of employment, compensation for any vacation days which said City Employee has earned but not used. r ORDINANCE NO.2687-1972 Page # 2 SECTION two.
