The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on September 4, 2012 at
6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Chambers. Mayor Crosby presided.
I. ROLL CALL
Members present: Crosby, Pederson, Martinson, Siitari and Weir.
Members absent:
Also present: City Planner Dusty Finke, Public Works Superintendent Steve Scherer,
Police Chief Ed Belland, Consultant Finance Director Joe Rigdon, Assistant Finance
Director Erin Barnhart and City Administrator Scott Johnson.
II. 2013 CITY OF MEDINA PROPOSED TAXES AND EXPENDITURES
Staff provided the City Council with the 2013 proposed budget and levy. The proposed
2013 tax levy was $3,284,592 with a tax levy rate of 25.068%. The proposed increase
will be used for the purchase and renovation of the facility at 600 Clydesdale Trail for
Public Works and Police. The proposed General Fund Budget was $3,776,425. This is
a $10,000 decrease from the 2012 Budget of $3,786,425. Council reviewed the long-
term needs for fire, equipment, road pavement management planning, utilities,
neighboring cities tax rates, and the financial management plan. The financial
management plan will be updated and brought to a future Council Work Session.
V. ADJOURN
Mayor Crosby adjourned the Work Session at 6:53 p.m.
