ORDINANCE 1991-171
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF ORDINANCE NO. 165 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN, IOWA, SAID ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE
AMOUNT OF PAYMENT TO ELECTED OFFICIALS FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR
DUTIES
BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIFFIN, IOWA:
SECTION I. Purpose. The purpose of this Ordinance is to provide
for payrnentJ of elected officials for the performance of their duties for
the City.
SECTION II. Definitions. As used in this Ordinance, "elected
officials" means the Mayor and the City Council members.
SECTION III. Compensation for the City Council members. Tiffin
City Council members shall receive compensation according to the
following schedule:
$20.00 for each regular meeting attended by council member
$20.00 for each special meeting attended by council member
$20.00 for each additional meeting attended by the council member
of the following groups, at- the direction of the Mayor or City Council,
and other meetings not listed below which are necessary in conjunction
with duties as a member of the City Council:
Tiffin Planning and Zoning Commission
Tiffin Board of Adjustment
Tiffin Parks and Recreation Commisiion
Johnson County Council of Governments
Johnson County Civil Defense
Southeast Iowa Municipal League
SECTION IV. Cocmpensation of Mayor. - The Tiffin Mayor shall
receive $500.00 annually as compensation. In addition, the Mayor shall
receive compensation according to the folowing schedule:

$20.00 for each additional meeting attended by the Mayor of the
following groups, and other meetings not listed below which are
necessary. in conjuntion with duties as Mayor:
Tiffin Planning and Zoning Commission
Tiffin Board of Adjustment
Tiffin Parks and Recreation Commission
Johnson County Council of Governments
Johnson County Civil Defense
Johnson County Board of Supervisors
Southeast Iowa Municipal League
SECTION V. Repealer. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances, in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION VI. Severability. If any section, provision or part of ,
this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional-, such
adjudication shall not affect the ordinance as a whole, or any section;
provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION VII. When Effective. This ordinance shall be in effect
on January 1, 1992 after-its final passage, approval and publication as
provided by law. .
Councilman M Oman introduced the foregoing ordinance which
was then duly read and considered by the Council. Its adoption was
moved by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Stoner
On roll call vote Councilman Stoner , Slaymaker , Morgan , Brown ,
Bartels voted "Aye".
Councilman voted "Nay". Mayor declared motion
carried.
Councilman Stoner then moved that the rule or law requiring
three readings of this ordinance on three different dates be dispensed
with. Seconded by Councilman Morgan On roll call vote
Councilman Stoner , Slaymaker , Morgan, Brown, Bartels
voted "Aye. "
Councilman • voted "Nay".

Ordinance No. 1991-171
Councilman BrOwn then moved for final adoption of this
ordinance, seconded by Councilman Slaymeker . On roll call vote
Councilman Stoner , Slaymaker , Morgan , Brown , Bartels
voted "Aye. "
Councilman . voted "Nay. "
The Mayor then declared Ordinance No. 1991-171 `duly passed and '
adopted on this 9th day of January, 1991.

ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF ORDINANCE NO. 165 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
TIFFIN, IOWA. SAID ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE AMOUNT OF PAYMENT TO
ELECTED OFFICIALS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTIES was published on the
17th day of January, 1991 by posting copies thereof in three public
places within 'the limits, two of which are the mayor's office and the
post office.
