A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ADOPTING A
SALARY SCHEDULE AND PAY PLAN FOR
FISCAL YEAR 1982 -1983
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE:
SECTION 1. General Provisions
A. The schedule of pay ranges and steps listed in Table 1
constitutes the compensation plan applicable to all classes of
positions listed in Table II and shall be effective July 1, 1982.
B. For purposes of computing the salary of full -time employees,
at the time of original appointment or termination only, and working
less than a full pay period, the following formula of computation
shall be used:
Total days worked, divided by the total working days
in the month, times the monthly rate of pay.
C. Employees other than department heads and administration
personnel who are authorized to work more than a regular 40 -hour week
shall be compensated for overtime at time and one -half.
Executive, administrative, and professional level positions
shall not be compensated for overtime. For purposes of this section,
executive, administrative, and professional level positions are the
following:
1. City Manager
2. Assistant City Manager
3. Director of Parks and Recreation
4. Planning Director
5. Maintenance Superintendent, Buildings,
Grounds and Parkway Trees
6. Administrative Assistant
7. Administrative Analyst
8. Senior Planner
9. Recreation Supervisor
10. Assistant Planner

SECTION 3. Administration of the Compensation Plan
A. The salary schedule for the respective classes of positions
as set forth in Tables I and II, with such amendments as may be
adopted by. the City Council from time to time by ordinance or reso-
lution, shall have the force and effect and shall be interpreted and
applied as follows:
B. The salaries or rates of compensation prescribed are fixed
on the basis of full -time service.
C. The employee shall be eligible for recommendation to receive
the step within range for the class to which his position is allocated
as determined by the following conditions:
(1) 6 months or less of continuous service - 1st step
(2) more than 6 months (but less than 12 years) of
continuous service - 2nd step
(3) more than 12 years of continuous service - 3rd step
D. No advance in pay shall be automatic upon completion of the
period of service outlined hereinabove, and all increases shall be
made on the basis of merit as established by the employee's work
performance. Increase in pay shall be withheld in cases of inferior
work, lack of application or indifferent attitude. The pay of any
employee may be reduced to a lower step within the established pay
range by the City Manager where the quality and manner of work per-
formance do not justify the pay being received.

SECTION 4. Temporary Employees
A. The following Table is adopted as the salary schedule and
classification of temporary employees, effective July 1, 1982.

B. The salary schedule for the respective classes of positions
as set forth in Table III, with such amendments as may be adopted by
the City Council from time to time by ordinance or resolution, shall
have the force and effect and shall be interpreted and applied as
follows:
C. The salaries or rates of compensation prescribed are, fixed
on the basis of an hourly rate for temporary employee positions.
D. The employee shall be eligible for recommendation to receive
the step within range, where a range exists, for the class to which
his position is allocated as determined by the following conditions:
(1) 500 hours or less of continuous service - 1st step
(2) Thereafter, a one -step increase in salary for completion
of each 500 hours or one year of continuous service to
the maximum step
E. No advance in pay shall be automatic upon completion of the
period of service outlined hereinabove, and all increases shall be
made on the basis of merit as established by the employee's work
performance. Increase in pay shall be withheld in cases of inferior
work, lack of application, or indifferent attitude. The pay of any
employee may be reduced to a lower step within the established pay
range by the City Manager where the quality and manner of work per-
formance do not justify the pay being received.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.

by the City Council of the City of Temple City at a regular meeting
held on the 15th day of June, 1982, by the following vote:
