A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER
INTO A MAINTENANCE /HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT
WITH CALTRANS AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
NEEDED MATERIALS, SERVICES AND SUPPLIES IN
CONSTRUCTING THE LONG BEACH BLVD.
SAFETY /BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT THROUGH AN
' INFORMAL BIDDING PROCEDURE
WHEREAS, the Long Beach Blvd Safety /Beautification
Project, Project No. 5 -5179 was approved by City Council on
November 7, 1995 ; and
WHEREAS, the project will provide for the construction
of landscaped median islands, pedestrian fences, decorative
lighting, planters, landscaping, etc. on Long Beach Blvd. from
Josephine Street to Sanborn Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the project is comprised of various trades
including the installation of an irrigation system, planters,
electrical conduits, service cabinets, conductors, anchor bolts,
pull boxes, pattern concrete installation, planting materials,
etc.; and
WHEREAS, the project will be implemented with the
Participation of local youth through the City's local youth
hiring program; and
WHEREAS, said materials, services and supplies can be
purchased more economically and expeditiously if done through an
informal bidding procedure; and
WHEREAS, under Section 6 -3.13 of the Lynwood Municipal
Code, Council can authorize purchases through informal bids by a
4/5 vote; and
WHEREAS, portions of said median islands lie Caltrans
right -of -way; and
WHEREAS, said encroachments require the City to
obtain an encroachment permit from Caltrans and require the City
to enter into a maintenance /hold harmless agreement with
Caltrans.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1 . That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a
maintenance /hold harmless agreement with Caltrans for the
affected portions for the median island on Long Beach Blvd
between Josephine Street and Sanborn Avenue for the Long Beach
Blvd. Safety /Beautification Project, Project No. 5 -5179.
Section 2 . That the City Council authorizes staff to
' obtain the necessary encroachment permit from Caltrans for the
above mentioned project.
Section 3. That the City Council authorizes staff
to purchase the needed materials, services and supplies to
construct the Long Beach Blvd. Safety /Beautification Project,
Project No. 5 -5179 through an informal bidding procedure.
Section 4 This resolution shall take
effect immediately upon its adoption.
