A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN
AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH CALTRANS AND
AUTHORIZING STAFF TO SEND OUT A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSAL FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
ADMINISTRATION OF THE TREATMENT PLANT FOR WATER
' WELL NO. 21
Whereas, water quality analysis of Well No 21 reveals levels of manganese that exceed the
Maximum Contaminant Levels for secondary water quality standards set by the California Department of
Health Services, and
Whereas, the same analysis revealed the potential that iron may become a future maximum
contaminant level problem, and
Whereas, the California Department of Health Services requires that the iron and manganese
be removed from the water before it is allowed for potable use, and
Whereas, Caltrans has agreed to finance 100% of the design and construction management
of the treatment plant, and
Whereas, requests for proposals need to be sent out in order to attract qualified engineering
firms for the design and construction management of the water treatment plant.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby find, proclaim,
order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the 5th amendment to Utility
Agreement No. 7UT -10, 044.1 to change the estimated cost of the agreement from $1,225,000 to
$2,025,000 for the purpose of designing and constructing an iron and manganese treatment plant at Well
' No. 21.
Section 2. That he City Council authorizes staff to prepare and issue a request for
proposals to engineering firms specializing in design and construction management of iron and
manganese treatment plants.
Section 3 . That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED. APPROVED and ADOPTED THIS 20th day of August ,1996.
