Leesburg Water Filtration Plant Receives State Award for
Operational Excellence
Leesburg, VA (April 2, 2015) – The Town
of Leesburg was recently notified by the
Virginia Department of Health (VDH)
that the Town’s Department of Utilities
Water Supply Division has received the
2014 Excellence in Waterworks
Operations/Performance Award. This
award marks the 11th consecutive year
that Leesburg has received this award.
Each year, the VDH Office of Drinking
Water Recognition Program rewards
water systems that have demonstrated
excellence in performance and
operations and for the treatment and distribution of drinking water to the public. Excellence in
performance and operations involve setting and achieving goals well beyond the established
regulations and making a commitment to customer satisfaction.
The Virginia Department of Health’s 2014 Excellence Performance Awards will be presented in
Roanoke, Virginia, at the annual Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project “Water is Life”
luncheon on April 22, 2015.
“This award is well-deserved recognition for the hard work and dedication that Leesburg staff
provides in day-to-day operations of the Water Filtration Plant,” said Amy Wyks, Leesburg’s
Director of Utilities. “Leesburg residents should be very proud that we have received this award
for so many years running.”
