Leesburg Personal Property Tax Payments Due On
Tuesday, May 5, 2015
Several payment options are available to avoid the lines at Town Hall
Leesburg, VA (April 8, 2015) – The Town of Leesburg recently mailed vehicle personal property
tax bills for 2015 to Leesburg taxpayers. The due date for paying vehicle personal property
taxes is Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Business tangible personal property tax bills will be mailed in
mid-May with a due date of June 19, 2015.
In 2014, the Leesburg Town Council eliminated the pro-ration of personal property taxes on
vehicles. The 2015 personal property tax bills are based on the assessed value of vehicles
parked, stored or garaged in the Town as of January 1, 2015. Vehicles purchased or moved into
the Town after January 1, 2015, will not be billed for personal property taxes until 2016.
Taxpayers must display a Town of Leesburg vehicle decal within 30 days of vehicle purchase or
move.
The Town of Leesburg offers a variety of payment options for personal property taxes that
allow taxpayers to avoid long lines at Town Hall, including online, by telephone, via traditional
mail and using the drop box at Town Hall. For details about all payment options, visit
www.leesburgva.gov/how-do-i/pay/personal-property-taxes.
A late penalty of 10% and interest at the rate of 10% per annum will be added to any unpaid
balance beginning on May 5, 2015.
