A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING ACTIVITIES RELATIVE TO EARTH DAY
LYNWOOD TO PROMOTE THE ENVIRONMENT AND TO APPROVE THE
APPROPRIATION OF $1,500 TO COVER COSTS NOT ELIGIBLE UNDER THE
USED OIL RECYCLING BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

WHEREAS, there exists an activism to preserve our environment and natural resources;
and
WHEREAS, on April 22, 1970 the first Earth Day was celebrated to gain nationwide
awareness about the environment; and
WHEREAS, since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated by many communities
nationwide; and
WHEREAS, holding a special event in connection with Earth Day will help the City
promote its waste prevention, waste diversion, and used oil recycling programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF LYNWOOD HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
~ECTION 1 That the City Council directs the City Manager to implement a series of
public awareness activities to promote Used Oil Recycling and other environmental programs in
connection with Earth Day Lynwood.
SECTION 2 That the City Council approves an appropriation of $1,500 from the
General Fund to cover costs not eligible under the Used Oil Recycling Block Grant Program.
SECTION 3 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
