RESOLUTION NO. 97-14
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING THE NUMBER OF
RESIDENTS OF THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF
DETERMINING THE VOLUNTARY EXPENDITURE CEILING
, FOR CITY ELECTIONS, AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION
19-1 OF THE LYNWOOD MUNICIPAL CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD FINDS, ORDERS,
AND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recitals.
A. In accordance with the provisions of ~~The Political
Reform Act of 1996," passed by the voters as Proposition 208 on
the November 5, 1996, statewide ballot, the City Council has
adopted an ordinance establishing a voluntary expenditure ceiling
for campaigns for City elective office.
B. Subsection 19-1.1 of the Lynwood Municipal Code
established the voluntary expenditure ceiling at an amount equal
to one dollar ($1) per resident of the City for each election for
City elective office.
C. Subsection 19-1.2 of the Lynwood Municipal Code
requires the City Council to establish by resolution the number
of residents in the City prior to each election for City elective
office.
~ Section 2. For the sole purpose of determining the
exact amount of the voluntary expenditure ceiling for campaigns
for City elective office, the City Council finds that there are
65,934 resi~ients of the City of Lynwood, as reflected in the most
recent data provided by the California Department of Finance.
Therefore, as authorized by Subsection 19-1.1 of the Lynwood
Municipal Code, the amount of the voluntary expenditure ceiling
for campaigns for City elective office is $65,934 per election.
Section 3. The City Council declares that the
determination set forth in this resolution applies only to the
voluntary expenditure ceiling established in the Lynwood
Municipal Code and has no relevance to any other matter.
Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to certify ro
the adoption of this resolution.
