HomeMy Public PortalAbout97-027 (03-04-97)RESOLUTION N0.97-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR A 1997/2000 USED OIL RECYCLING BLOCK GRANT AND APPROVING THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION OF $20,429 OR THE MAXIMUM BLOCK ' GRANT AWARD FOR FISCAL YEAR 1997-1998, 1998-1999, 1999-2000 TO BE LATER REIMBURSED BY THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTING THE USED OIL RECYCLING 1997/2000 GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Oil Recycling Enhancement Act that provides funds to cities and counties for establishing and maintaining local used oil collection programs that encourage recycling or appropriate disposal of used oil: and WHEREAS, the California lntegrated Waste Management Board has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within the state, setting up necessary procedures governing application by cities and counties under the program; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood will enter into an agreement with the State of California for implementation of a used oil collection program; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOW: SECTION 1. Authorize the submittal of an application to the California lntegrated , Waste Management Board for a 1997/2000 Used Oii Recycling block Grant. SECTION 2. The City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Lynwood all necessary applications, contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.. SECTION 3. Authorize the annual appropriation of $20,429 or the maximum block grant award for Fiscal Year 1997-1998, 1998-1999, 1999-2000 from the unappropriated General Fund to be later reimbursed by the California lntegrated Waste Management Board for the purpose of implementing the Used Oil Recycling 1997/2000 Grant Program. SECTION 4. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of March , 1997. Paul H.
