HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinances-1994-190 ORDINANCE NO. fC/9flo AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE NO. 1987-145 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN, IOWA: BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIFFIN, IOWA: Section 1 . Purpose . The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Ordinance No. 1987-145 of the Municipal Code of Tiffin, Iowa, by excluding the use of plastic within the water distribution system for hot water and to exclude the use of plastic in ground under the foundation of any building for plumbing, drainage, waste and vent systems (DWV) . Section 2 . Amendment . Ordinance No. 1987-145, an Ordinance for the City of Tiffin, Iowa, is hereby amended as follows: Chapter 22, Section P-2202 .1-MATERIALS Piping within buildings is hereby repealed and the amended Section P-2202 . 1-MATERIALS shall read as follows : P-2202 . 1 Piping within buildings: Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping in buildings shall be as shown in Table P-2202 .1 or other approved materials having a smooth and uniform bore, except that no galvanized wrought-iron or galvanized steel pipe shall be used underground and shall be kept at least six, inches above ground, and except that plastic is not allowed to be used in ground under the foundation of any building for any plumbing, drainage, waste, and vent systems (DWV) . Chapter 24, Section P-2409 .1-WATER-DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM Materials is hereby repealed and the amended Section P-2409 .1 shall read as follows: P-2409.1 Materials : Water-distribution piping within dwelling units shall be as shown in Table P-2403 . 1 . ABS/PVC and P.E. Plastic may be used for cold water only. CPVC and P.B. Plastic may be used for cold water. Plastic may not be used for hot or cold water in any water-distribution system. 101('cl tna v\ce t\lo . tq6 Fine Z Minimum working pressure rating for hot- water piping shall be 100 psi at 180 degrees F. Fittings shall be approved and compatible with the type of piping being used. Section 3 . Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict 'with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4 . Severability. If any section, provision, or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any section, provision, or part thereof 'not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.. Section 5 . Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect after its final passage, approval, and posting as provided by law. Thereupon, it was moved by Councilperson BrQWI') and seconded by Councilperson M o r v' that the laws and rules providing that ordinances be considered and voted on for passage at two council meetings prior to the meeting at which it is to be finally passed be suspended and dispensed with and that Ordinance No. r9gq-iq U be placed on its last reading. Whereupon the mayor declared that Ordinance No. 19q9—./90 be adopted and signified his approval of same by fixing his signature thereto.
