RESOLUTION 97-49
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD ORDERING, CALLING, AND GIVING
NOTICE OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD IN THE CITY ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4,
1997, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MEMBER OF THE
' CITY COUNCIL TO FILL AN EXISTING VACANCY AND
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO CONSOLIDATE THAT
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH THE SCHOOL
DISTRICT ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THAT DATE, IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 10403 OF THE
ELECTIONS CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD FINDS,
, ORDERS AND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Pursuant to the requirements of Article
XIIIA, Section 4 of the California Constitution, there is hereby
called and ordered to be held in the City on Tuesday, November 4,
1997, a Special Municipal Election for the purpose of electing a
Member of the City Council to fill an existing vacancy, as
provided for in California Government Code Section 36512(b).
Section 2. Pursuant to the requirements of Section
10403 of the Elections Code, the Los Angeles County Board of
Supervisors is requested to consent and agree to the
consolidation of the Special Municipal Election with the School
District Election to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 1997.
' Section 3. The Los Angeles County Election Department
is authorized to canvass the returns of the Special Municipal
Election. The election will be held in all respects as if there
were only one election, and only one form of ballot will be used.
Section 4. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors
is requested to issue instructions to the County Election
Department to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of
this consolidated election.
Section 5. The City of Lynwood recognizes that
additional costs will be incurred by Los Angeles County by reason
of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse Los Angeles County
for those costs.
Section 6. The polls for the election will be open at
seven o'clock a.m. of the day of the election and will remain
open continuously from that time until eight o'clock p.m. of the
same day when the polls will be closed, except as provided in
Elections Code Section 14401.
Section 7. In all particulars not recited in this
resolution, the election will be held and conducted as provided
by law for holding City elections.
, Section 8. Notice of the time and place of holding the
election is hereby given and the City Clerk is authorized and
dir~cted to give further or additional notice of the election in
the time, form, and manner required by law.
Section 9. The City Council, the officers and staff of
the City, and the City~s legal counsel are authorized and
directed to take such further action as may be necessary or
appropriate in preparing for and conducting the election.
Section 10. The City Clerk is directed to certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution.

Section 11. The City Clerk is directed to file a
certified copy of this resolution with the Los Angeles County
Board of Supervisors and with the Los Angeles County Election
Department.
