HomeMy Public PortalAbout97-057 (05-06-97)RESOLUTION NO. 97-57 ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING AUTHORIZING AND EMPOWERING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE IN THE NAME OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALL NECESSARY APPLICATIONS, CONTRACTS, PAYMENT REQUESTS, AGREEMENTS AND AMENDMENTS HERETO FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECURING GRANT FUNDS AND TO IMPLEMENT AND CARRY OUT THE PURPOSES SPECIFIED IN THE GRANT APPLICATION; AND AUTHORIZING A ONE TIME APPROPRIATION OF $45,605 TO BE USED OVER THE FOLLOWING FISCAL YEARS FY96/97, FY 97/98, AND FY 98/99 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED GENERAL FUND TO BE LATER REIMBURSED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Recycling and Litter Reduction Act that establishes a beverage container recycling program in California; and WHEREAS, the Department of Conservation administers this Act; and ~~ ~ WHEREAS, the Department of Conservation has made available $2,232,983 for grants to nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies for beverage container market development, collection, community outreach, education and litter abatement projects; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood submitted a grant proposal titled "Beverage Container Recycling Campaign" ; and WHEREAS, the Department of Conservation accepted the City of Lynwood's proposal and awarded the City the full grant amount requested, $45,605; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOW: SECTION 1. The City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Lynwood all necessary applications, contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application. SECTION 2 Authorize a one time appropriation of $45,605 to be used over the following fiscal years FY96/97, FY 97/98, and FY 98/99 from the unappropriated General Fund to be later reimbursed by the Department of Conservation.
