AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING SECTION
26A-56 RELATING TO DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS REAL PROPERTY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 26A (Purchasing and Finance) of the Jefferson City Code is hereby
amended by amending Section 26A-56 (Surplus of real Property), to read as follows:
A. Declaration of Real Estate Surplus. The City Council may declare any real property owned by the
City to be declared surplus and no longer needed. Such declaration shall be made on the consent
agenda.
B. Disposition of Surplused Real Estate. Once the real property is declared surplus the method of
disposition shall be approved by the City Council, which may be by any means deemed most
beneficial by the City Council.
1. If the owner(s) of an immediately adjacent parcel of land is the only logical,
potential purchaser of the surplus property, City Council may authorize, j consent
or otherwise, the sale of the property to the identified purchaser subject to
appropriate terms and conditions.
a. In lieu of accepting competitive bids, the surplus property's price per square
foot shall be equal to the appraised land value of the immediately adjacent
parcel of land proposed to receive the property, divided by the total area in
square feet of the immediately adjacent parcel of land, as determined by the
most recent appraisal of the Assessor of the county wherein the land is
located.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of
its passage and approval.
