Shelby Caputo Named Deputy Town Attorney for Town of
Leesburg
Leesburg, VA (April 17, 2015) – Shelby Caputo was
hired as the Deputy Town Attorney on April 15,
2015. Shelby joined the Town of Leesburg from the
City of Alexandria where she was an Assistant
Commonwealth’s Attorney for 10 years. During her
tenure with the City of Alexandria, she prosecuted
crimes including homicides, felony assaults, child
abuse and neglect, white collar crimes, and major
narcotic cases. Prior to becoming an Assistant
Commonwealth’s Attorney, she practiced family
law, civil litigation and continues to work as a legislative analyst. Shelby received her J.D. at The
Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington D.C., where she attended evening
classes while working full-time at the United States Court of Appeals D.C. Circuit and the United
States Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. She received her B.A. from the University of Mary
Washington (formerly Mary Washington College) in Fredericksburg, VA.
She currently resides in Ashburn with her husband and two year old daughter.
