RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
THE HAZARD ELIMINATION SAFETY (HES)
PROGRAM FOR FY 1997-98
WHEREAS, the federal Surface Transportation Program
, (STP) Program, provides federal funds to local agencies for
improvements relating to transportation; and
WHEREAS, STP includes the Hazard Elimination Safety
(HES) Program; and
WHEREAS, the HES is administered by the State of
California Transportation Department (Caltrans), and provides
federal funds for the elimination of hazardous traffic conditions
exposed to pedestrians and motorist; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to improve the safety
of the public transportation.
WHEREAS, staff has identified projects that qualify
for these grants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LYNWOOD:
Section 1 Approves the filing of applications for the
FY 1997-9g, Hazardous Elimination Safety Program grants.
Section 2 Appoints Emilio M. Murga, Assistant City
' Manager-Environmental Services/Director of Public Works as agent
of the City of Lynwood to submit and execute, including but no
limited to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests
and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the
applied project.
Section 3 This resolution shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.
