HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 82-21161 1 RESOLUTION NO. 82 -2116 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY INITIATING PROCEEDINGS FOR CHANGE OF ORGANIZATION DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION 82 -1" TO THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, PURSUANT TO THE MUNICIPAL ORGANIZATION ACT OF 1977 WHEREAS, a petition making application for the proposed annex- ation of territory, designated as "Annexation 82 -1" to the City of Temple City, was filed with the Local Agency Formation Commission pursuant to the Municipal Organization Act of 1977 (Part 2, com- mencing with Section 35000, of Division 2 of Title 4 of the Government Code); and WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission, on November 10, 1982, approved the annexation subject to the condition that the territory also be withdrawn from Longden Lighting District, desig- nated the City Council of the City of Temple City as the conducting authority, and directed the City to initiate annexation proceedings, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 1. Preliminary proceedings for annexation were commenced by petition making application by JoAnne Baham, 6600 Temple City Boulevard, and Hilton Baham, 6600 Temple City Boulevard, as chief petitioners. 2. The exterior boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed are described in Exhibit "A ", attached hereto and made a part hereof. 3. The reason for the proposed annexation, as set forth in the petition, is that the residents identify with the City of Temple City and wish to receive municipal services from Temple City. 4. The Local Agency Formation Commission has determined that the affected territory is inhabited and said Commission approved the annexation on November 10, 1982, with the condition that the subject territory also be withdrawn from Longden Lighting District. 5. A hearing on the proposed annexation is set for January 4, 1983 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, 5938 N. Kauffman Avenue, Temple City. 6. Any interested person desiring to make written protest against the annexation should do so by written communication filed with the City Clerk of the City of Temple City, 5938 N. Kauffman Avenue, Temple City, CA 91780, not later than the hour set for hearing. A written protest by a landowner shall contain a description suf- ficient to identify the land owned by him. A protest by a voter shall contain the residential address of the voter. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the City Council of the City of Temple City on the 16th day of November, 1982.
