A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL O£ THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD PROVIDING FOR THE FILING OF
REBU'1'P1~L ARGUMENTS FOR C2TY PROPOSITIONS AT
MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
WIiEREAS, Sections 9220 and 9285 of the Calilornia
Elections Code.authorize the City Council, by majority vote, to
provide for the filinq of rebuttal arquments for City
propositions;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
RESOLVES, DECLARES, DETERMINES AND ORDERS AS FOLLOW8;
SECT20N i. In accordance with Sections 9Z20 and 9285
of the California Elections Code, when the City Clerk haa
selected the arquments for and aqainst the proposition that will
be printed and distributed to the voters, the City Clerk must
send copies of the arq~ment in favor of the measure to the
authors of the argument against, and copiss of the arqument
aqainst to the authors of the argument in favor. The authors may
prepare and submit rebuttal arguments not exceedinq 250 words.
The rebuttal arguments must be filed with the City Clerk not more
than 10 days after the final date for filinq direct arquments.
Rebuttal arguments must be printed in the same manner as the
direct arguments. Each rebuttal argument will i~ediately follow
the direct arqument that it seeks to rebut.
SECTION z. All previous resolutions providinq for the
filing of rebuttal arguments for City propositions are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 3. The provisions of Section 1 apply only to
the Special Municipal Election to be held on November 4, 1997 ~d
this reaolution is thereafter repealed.
