Keep Leesburg Beautiful Volunteers Collected Over 6,000
Pounds of Trash During April
Leesburg, VA (May 4, 2015) – The 11th annual
Keep Leesburg Beautiful community clean up
and beautification campaign concluded on April
30, 2015 with an estimated 6,000 pounds of
trash, appliances, tires and other debris
removed from town roadsides and public right-
of-ways.
In addition to the annual Council-Staff challenge,
in which 4,660 pounds of trash was collected,
Cub Scout Troop 982, Girl Scout Troop 2183, and
five neighborhood groups collected an
additional 48 bags of trash, along with tires,
pieces of metal siding and PVC pipes.
“The Council and I could not be more proud of
this year’s Keep Leesburg Beautiful results,” said
Kristen Umstattd, Leesburg Mayor. “Record amounts of trash were collected and we are so
appreciative of our citizens’ efforts to clean up Leesburg.”
