A RESOLUTION OF THE CITy COUNCII, OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROPRIATING FOURTEEIV TgOUSAND DOLLARS FRpM THE
UNAPPROPRIATED GENERAL FUND BALANCE TO BE UTII,IZED TO
HONOR THE LATE COUNCILMAN LOUIS J. HEINE BY AN~NDING THE
NAME OF THE CURRENT COMMiJNITy ROOM AT THE LYNWOOD LIBRAgy
~ WHEREAS, Louis J. Heine was a heralded citizen in the City of Lynwood; and
WHEREAS, Louis J. Heine was concerned with the welfare of every citizen in the
community; and
VVHEREAS, Louis J. Heine was one the best and most popular te,achers as well as
principals in the history of the Lynwood Unified School District; and
~'-'HER.EAS, Louis J, Heine was elected to the Lynwood City Council in November of
1988 and subsequently re-elected in 1991 and 1995.
WHEREAS, Louis J. Heine was commltted to expanding li~eracy programs as well as to
improving the overall leve! of educadon in the community; and
WHEREAS, Louis J. Heine committed his time and energy ~ improving the Lynwood
Library; add
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Ciry Council commissiotted that the Community Affairs
Commission research various methods of honoring Mr. Heine; and
~t'HEREAS, the Commission met with representatives from the Los Angeles County
, Library System, local Lynwood Library as well as from the Recreadon & Community Services
Department; and
~'HEREAS, the Commission has recommended to the City Council that they accept a
proposal to rename the library's community room to the Louis J. Heine Educational Center.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY T$E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD AS FOLLOWS:
e~ n 1 The City Council of the City of Lynwood hereby authorizes the City
Manager or his designee to implement a11 financial transactions as approved in this resolution.
Section 2 Tha City Council of Lynwood hereby suthorizes the following budget
transfer:
