WHEREAS, Caden McDermott, Pleasant Valley High School class of 2023, son of Charity and Randy
McDermott, Bettendorf, has participated in wrestling since the age of five years old, beginning his
wrestling career with the Rising Knights wrestling club; and,
WHEREAS, Caden was a 2022 state wrestling championship runner up, which drove his passion to win a
state championship in 2023; and,
WHEREAS, Caden was ranked #1 in the 170 pound weight class for the 2022/2023 wrestling season; and,
WHEREAS, Caden has earned over 137 (10th All -Time) career wins, won all but one tournament this
season, and his record was 48-1 going into the state finals; and,
WHEREAS, Caden won a Mississippi Athletic Conference title this season and is a three time district
champ; and,
WHEREAS, Caden was named the Quad City Times Iowa Pacesetter for the week of February 22, 2023;
and,
WHEREAS, on February 18, 2023, at Wells Fargo Arena, in Des Moines, Iowa, Caden earned the state
championship title in the 170 pound weight class.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Kevin Adams, Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, do hereby
proclaim March 28th as

in Riverdale, and encourage staff, residents, and visitors to join me in congratulating Caden for his hard
work, dedication, and achievements.
