Thomas Balch Library Recognizes Volunteers at Annual
Appreciation Luncheon
Leesburg, VA (May 5, 2015) – On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, the Thomas Balch Library
recognized the contributions of its many volunteers with an appreciation luncheon.

“Volunteers at Thomas Balch Library contribute in many different ways,” said Alexandra
Gressitt, the Library’s Director. “They index newspapers and manuscript collections. They teach
classes on how to do historical research. They assist with special events, mailing and social
media. The list goes on. The Thomas Balch Library would not be able to provide the level of
service that we do without our talented and dedicated volunteers. This annual luncheon is one
small way in which we say ‘Thank You.’”

“The Town truly appreciates the hours of dedicated work that volunteers at the Thomas Balch
Library put in each year,” commented Keith Markel, Leesburg’s Deputy Town Manager. “Some
of our volunteers have been coming to the Balch for as long as the library has been here. That
fact really speaks to the quality of our volunteer program. I commend Alexandra and her staff
for their commitment to providing opportunities for volunteers to be valued assets to the
library.”
